Oral cancer

Oral cancer affects the nose, mouth and tongue. The two main causes of oral cancer are drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Drinking alcohol can be fine in moderation, but if you’re binge drinking or are addicted to alcohol it can cause many severe illnesses and emotional problems.

Cigarettes are full of harmful chemicals that damage your body. If you smoke you’re putting yourself at risk of illnesses such as oral and lung cancer. Oral cancer used to be mainly seen in older people but the number of young people being diagnosed is on the increase. If you want to protect yourself and quit smoking then contact the NHS Stop Smoking Service.
